Finally, Bangladesh won a match in the three-match ODI series against England. Although England secured the series by winning the first two, Bangladesh avoided the clean sweep as they defeated the Three Lions in the third ODI. Shakib Al Hasan received the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance both in bat and ball.

Toss: Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh, won the toss and opted to bat first.

The struggle continues in Bangladesh’s opening wicket

Bangladesh had been struggling in their opening wicket throughout the series. They also failed today to get a good start at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Opener Liton Das had gone duck in the very first over as Sam Curran picked him up. The English pacer also picked up Tamim Iqbal in the 3rd over.

Middle-order responded well

Losing two quick wickets in 17 runs, Bangladesh were under tremendous pressure. But Mushfiqur Rahim brilliantly handled the disaster with young talent Najmul Hossain Shanto. Both players were very careful on the pitch.

Once they settled down on the pitch, they started hitting boundaries. Together they added 98 runs on the scoreboard. Mushfiq and Shanto were looking good, but Shanto had to return to the pavilion after being run out. He scored 53 runs before leaving the crease.

On the other hand, Mushfiq made another partnership of 38 runs with Shakib Al Hasan. The two experienced guys led the team towards a big score. But Mushfiqur Rahim lost his wicket to Adil Rashid, scoring 70 runs. Besides, Shakib also picked up a half-century and scored the highest 75 runs before losing the wickets. Relying on these scores, Bangladesh ended their innings with 246 runs.

England had a good start but lost the flow

Chasing the target, England had a decent start. Jason Roy and Phil Salt added 54 runs in the opening partnership. But England had gone into deep trouble as they lost three wickets in three successive overs. From the 10th to 12th over, England lost Jason Roy, Phil Salt, and Dawid Malan.

After that, James Vince and Sam Curran tried hard but failed to survive. Shakib Al Hasan picked up four wickets alone, while Taijul and Ebadat got two wickets for each. As a result, England became all out in 196 runs, resulting in Bangladesh’s 50 runs victory in the 3rd ODI.
