Bangladesh Cricket Team is having a great time in the T20 format. After winning the T20 series against England and Ireland, Bangladesh continues their winning run in this format. Today, Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by six wickets to secure the third consecutive series at home.

Toss: T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first. The weather was not good enough, and Shakib knew the match would be in short overs. That is why the captain chose to bowl first so that they could chase the target comfortably.

Afghanistan lost two early wickets

Losing the toss, Afghanistan had to bat first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratulla Zazai stepped into the crease to start the innings for Afghanistan. But the two openers failed to get a good start. Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed drew the first blood as he picked up Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the very first over. 

Taskin Ahmed has been a leader in the Bangladeshi pace attack. He has some much strength and can bowl bouncer in the opening spells. His bouncers became difficult for the Afghan batters to face. Taskin Ahmed, however, got another wicket in his second over. This time, he got the wicket of Hazratullah Zazai. 

Therefore, Afghanistan became two men down in 16 runs only. After that, Ibrahim Zadran tried to handle the initial disaster with the experienced all-rounder, Mohammad Nabi. Their partnership added 32 runs on the scoreboard. However, Mustafizur Rahman broke their flow by taking the wicket of Mohammad Nabi. Nabi departed the crease after scoring 16 off 22.

After that, Ibrahim Zadran tried to carry the team. But captain Shakib Al Hasan didn’t let him carry the team. In the 11th over, Shakib Al Hasan hit two wickets. He picked up Ibrahim Zadran in his first delivery of the 10th over. Zadran scored 22 runs with a six and a four before leaving the crease. Furthermore, Shakib got Najibullah Zadran in his last delivery.

Azmatullah Omarzai, who played a tornado innings in the 1st test, seemed to do so today. Mustafizur Rahman did a fantastic job in the death overs as he picked up Azmatullah Omarzai in the 16th over. Omarzai contributed 25 runs before losing the wicket.

Relying on their bats, Afghanistan scored 116 runs in 17 overs by DLS method. Therefore, Bangladesh’s target was 117 from 17 overs.

Bangladesh had a flying start

Chasing the target, Liton Das and Afif Hossain, brought a fantastic start for Bangladesh. They were very aggressive from the beginning of the game. The two openers added 50 runs in the powerplay. Furthermore, their opening partnership saw 67 runs on the scoreboard. 

The two batsmen were looking so comfortable in the crease, but Mujibur Rahman changed the scenario. He picked up the wickets of Liton Das and Afif Hossain in the same over, 10th over. Liton scored 35, while Afif added 24 before losing their wickets.

Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to make a good impact. But captain Shakib remained strong between the wickets. His unbeaten 18 off 11 earned a comfortable victory against Afghanistan by six wickets as well as secured the T20 series at home.
