History has been made! Bangladesh smashed Afghanistan in a test match at Mirpur Sher-E Bangla Stadium to secure a massive victory by a mammoth 546 runs. This massive victory leads Bangladesh to register the third-highest victory in the history of test cricket in terms of runs.

Toss: Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan, won the toss and decided to bowl first.

1st Innings of Bangladesh

Losing the toss, Bangladesh had to start their batting innings as Afghanistan decided to bowl. Although Bangladesh lost an early wicket as Zakir Hasan departed the crease after scoring only one, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahmudul Hasan Joy played fantastic innings for the home team.

From 6 to 218, the two batters made an incredible partnership of 212 runs to lead the team toward a huge target. Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Najmul Shanto literally ruled the Afghans bowlers in the entire innings. The two were getting close to getting the century, but Mahmudul Hasan lost his wicket after scoring 76 runs.

But Najmul Hossain Shanto was out of his world. He continued hitting boundaries. After a smashing century, Shanto tried to be aggressive. With 23 boundaries and two sixes, Shanto picked up the highest 146 runs before losing the wicket. Relying on his bat, Bangladesh ended their first innings with 382 runs.

1st Innings of Afghanistan

The Afghans were not in their best form against Bangladesh. They struggled a lot while facing Bangladeshi pacers. The first four batters picked up only 41 runs combined. Ebadat Hossain and Shariful Isalm were so clinical in the first innings. Ebadat Hossain got four wickets, while Shariful bagged two. However, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan also got two wickets for each.

Because of their aggression, Afghanistan became all out in just 146 runs. Nasir Jama scored 35, while Afsar Zazai picked up the highest 36 runs for the Afghans.

2nd Innings of Bangladesh

Leading with 236 runs, Bangladesh started their second innings with Joy and Zakir Hasan. However, Joy couldn’t play like the first innings. But Zakir Hasan and Najmul Shanto carried the team. Shanto once again smashed another century. Shanto stopped in 123 runs. But former captain Mominul Haque hit a century after a long time. He remained not out in 121 runs. However, Bangladesh declared their innings in 425 runs, setting up a massive target of 662 runs.

2nd Innings of Afghanistan

Afghanistan started their second innings in the last session of Day 3. They picked up only 48 runs for three wickets. However, the Afghans resumed Day 4 today. But they have been all out after adding only 67 runs. Taskin Ahmed got four wickets of Afghanistan to tie them in 115 runs. As a result, Bangladesh won the match by a massive 546 runs.
