The three-match T20 series between Bangladesh and England started today at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, where the host beat England by six wickets to start the series with a win. Young talent Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed a half-century for Bangladesh, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Moreover, today’s victory for Bangladesh is the first-ever T20 win against England.

Toss: Shakib Al Hasan, the T20 captain of Bangladesh, won the toss and decided to bowl first.

England had a strong start

Losing the toss, The Three Lions started their batting innings with Phil Salt and Jos Buttler. The both openers brought a brilliant start for England. Skipper Buttler was more aggressive than Phil Salt. The aggression began with two batters hitting boundaries in the first over.

Buttler and Phil Salt made a partnership of 80 runs on the opening wicket. However, their partnership broke in the 10th over as Phil Salt departed the crease after scoring 38 runs. On the other hand, Buttler picked up a half-century against Bangladesh. He scored the highest 67 off 42 balls before leaving the pitch.

England’s middle order failed to respond

Although England had a good start, their middle order failed to keep the flow. Bangladeshi bowlers took control of the match after the first ten overs. Hasan Mahmud got two wickets, while Shakib, Nasum, Taskin, and Mustafiz, each picked up one wicket. As a result, England ended their innings with 156 runs in 20 overs.

Bangladesh chased the target with two overs left

Chasing the target, Bangladesh had a decent start, though their first wicket had gone in the 4th over as Roni Talukdar lost his wicket after scoring 21 runs. Liton Das also failed to stay long on the pitch, leaving the pitch in the 5th over.

After that, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy, the two very young lads, took all the responsibility and handled the situation brilliantly. Their 65 runs partnership made the basement for Bangladesh.

Although Towhid Hridoy lost his wicket after scoring 24 runs, Najmul Shanto kept adding runs. His 51 runs from 30 balls led the team toward the target. However, Shakib Al Hasan, then successfully chased the target with his unbeaten 34 runs. Relying on their scores, Bangladesh won the match with two overs left.
