South Africa are hosting West Indies in a two-match test series. The home side has already taken the lead by winning the first match. The 2nd test started on March 8, and after three days, Protea skipper Temba Bavuma is still leading the team. After Day 3, Temba Bavuma remains not out in 171 runs.

Toss: Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first at Wanderers Stadium.

1st Innings of South Africa

Winning the toss, South Africa started their batting innings with Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram. The two openers brought a fantastic start for the Proteas as they picked up 76 runs in the opening partnership.

Dean Elgar was close to getting a half-century in the first innings but missed it as he lost his wicket after scoring 42 runs. After that, Aiden Markram played a vital role in building up a new partnership of 126 runs with Tony de Zorzi. Both got the half-century each and were heading towards the century. Unfortunately, Markram missed the century as he lost his wicket in the 45th over after scoring 96 runs. Tony Zorzi, however, scored 85 runs before leaving the crease. Relying on their scorers, South Africa ended their first innings with 320 runs.

1st Innings of West Indies

West Indies had a nightmare in their first innings. They failed to get a good start and lost three wickets in 28 runs. Protea bowler Gerald Coetze was very aggressive against West Indies. He picked up three wickets alone.

However, Jason Holder played a vital role in the lower order, while West Indies suffered a lot in the top order. He scored the highest 81 runs from 117 balls and remained not out. His unbeaten 81 runs helped the Caribbeans end the innings with 251 runs.

2nd Innings of South Africa

South Africa couldn’t get a good start as they did in the 1st innings. The home team lost three wickets before 50 runs. But captain Bavuma stepped forward to rescue the team. While other batsmen failed to stay long, captain Bavuma is still not out with 171 runs and will continue tomorrow.
