The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and England started today at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where England secured a comfortable victory to take the lead. English batter Dawid Malan led the team with his brilliant unbeaten century to secure the victory in the first match.

Toss: Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh, won the toss and opted to bat first.

Bangladesh failed to get a good start

Winning the toss, Bangladesh started their batting innings with Tamim Iqbal and Liton Kumar Das. They seemed defensive from the very first ball. But despite being defensive, the two openers failed to make a long partnership. It was Liton Das who left the pitch after being LBW by Chris Woakes.

Tamim Iqbal, the skipper, seemed to do well but lost his wicket in the 10th over as Mark Wood bowled him out. He scored 23 runs before leaving the crease.

However, young talent Najmul Hossain Shanto took the responsibility for the team and fought for his life. When the seniors failed to contribute much, Najmul Shanto came forward to help the team. He scored the highest 58 runs with six boundaries before losing the wicket to Adil Rashid.

In addition, Mahmudullah Riyad picked up 31 off 58 balls in the lower order, which helped Bangladesh to score 20 runs in the first ODI. However, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets each for England.

England suffered but Malan led the team

Chasing a small target, England also suffered a lot. The pitch was not batting-friendly, therefore, picking runs became much more difficult. England lost their first wicket in the first over as Shakib Al Hasan picked up Jason Roy.

Phil Salt also failed to stay long, losing his wicket after scoring 12. However, Dawid Malan stepped in to handle the initial disaster for England. He remained very strict between the wickets.

Anyway, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Miraz made the match more competitive by taking some quick wickets. Taijul got three, while Miraz picked up two wickets for Bangladesh. But Dawid Malan kept scoring runs. His unbeaten 114 runs helped England chase the target within 49 overs. Relying on his bat, England won the match by three wickets.
