As it happened
Borussia Dortmund welcomed AFC Ajax at Signal Iduna Park as part of their pre-season. Dortmund's manager Edin Terzić set up the team formation with 4-2-3-1, where Sébastien Haller played in the front. As Jude Bellingham left the club, Dortmund's boss Edin Terzić has been trying to get a perfect formation with his current squad. The manager deployed Marco Reus as the ATM, while Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen played as the two wide wingers. On the other hand, Ajax boss Maurice Steijn also deployed his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. However, the match started with the home team taking an early lead against the Dutch club, AFC Ajax. Winger Julian Brandt put Dortmund ahead in just six minutes of the game. He found the net with the help of Hummels. Anyway, AFC Ajax made an excellent response after conceding an early goal. They took only 60 seconds to find the equalizer. Ajax striker Brian Brobbey netted the ball in the 7th minute from Steven Bergwijn's assist, the former player of Tottenham Hotspur. The two sides, then, displayed super aggression, creating so many chances. But neither side could score more goals in the remaining minutes of the first half. However, Borussia Dortmund changed their approach after coming back from the break. Their focus was on the counter-attack to score against the Dutch side. Dortmund boss Edin Terzić made some substitutions in the second half, that really worked for the home side. Edin Terzić replaced Marco Reus with Felix Nmecha, who completely changed the game. In the 54th minute, Felix Nmecha helped Dortmund to take the lead again against AFC Ajax. He scored a stunning goal with the help of Sébastien Haller. Felix Nmecha didn't take much time to complete his brace as he scored again in the 60th minute for Borussia Dortmund. After that, AFC Ajax tried really hard to return all these goals at Signal Iduna Park. They took ten shots in the entire game and seven of them were on target. Yet the Dutch club failed to find the net again. Besides, the home team showed their defensive strength in the final ten minutes and didn’t concede any. As a result, Borussia Dortmund signed off from the Signal Iduna Park with a comfortable victory against AFC Ajax.Related reading
