Australia have made a good response in the four-match test series against India, the home team. India already won the first two games, but Australia are now on the edge of winning the third one of the series. They need only 76 runs to win the third game against India.

Toss: Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, won the toss and decided to bat first in the 3rd test.

India had a disaster in the 1st innings

Winning the toss, India started their first innings with Shubman Gill and captain Rohit. But the two openers couldn’t stay long on the crease. Their partnership of 27 runs ended in the 6th over when Matthew Kuhnemann picked up captain Rohit.

After losing the skipper, the disaster started for the team India. From 34 to 45 runs, India lost four more wickets. Former captain Virat Kohli tried hard to take control but failed. He lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs. 

Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon, the two spinners of Australia, were on fire against the home team. Kuhnemann picked up five wickets of India in the first innings, while Lyon got three. Due to their aggression, India became all out in 109 runs.

1st Innings of Australia

Australia also lost an early wicket as Travis Head departed the crease after scoring nine runs. However, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne tackled the initial disaster. Together they added 96 runs on the scoreboard. Although Labuschagne lost his wicket after picking 31 runs, Usman Khawaja kept scoring. He picked up a half-century in this innings. Moreover, Khawaja scored the highest 60 runs for Australia.

After that, India eventually took control of the match, taking some quick wickets. 197 runs were total Australia managed to score after Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets and Umesh Yadav three wickets.

Nathan Lyon destroyed India in the 2nd innings

India once again failed to get a good start in the 2nd innings. Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon destroyed the Indian batting lineup alone. He picked up eight wickets for himself. Mitchel Starc and Kuhnemann got the remaining two to tie up India in 163 runs. As a result, Australia need only 76 runs to win this match.
